A heavy storm rolled through the backyard and took down the healthiest tree on the property. Meanwhile, a practically dead exotic pine twenty five feet away survived every storm it ever faced. The difference? It was not standing alone. In this episode we follow one backyard observation all the way to Ephesians 2, Philippians 2, and the quiet theology of intertwined roots. As Christians we have a code of conduct, a community, and a commandment to love each other. And when we live it out, something extraordinary happens. The roots intertwine. The foundation grows stronger with every new addition. And a community of armored prayer warriors threatening Satan by the mere mention of Jesus' name becomes virtually unstoppable. The storm is coming. Make sure your roots are intertwined.

It started with a Lab who had absolutely no idea where she was going. She would pull and pull and then stop, completely lost, because she had no destination in mind. Sound familiar? In this episode we sit with Psalm 37:23-24 and discover that the ordered steps God promises are not just for the triumphant moments. They are for the stumbles too. Every morning we don the Armor of God with the best of intentions. And then, wham. The shiny objects arrive. The eyes drift. The stumble comes. But here is what Psalm 37 and Deuteronomy 31 tell us together: He went before you. He is with you. He will not leave you. And every single stumble, rather than pulling you away from Him, has been used to draw you closer. The road is dark and deep. His light is brighter. His plan is perfect, His blood atoning, and His promises always kept. You will not fail or fall. Not on His watch.

It started with a childhood breath holding contest and ended with one of the most profound theological discoveries of my faith journey. In this episode we follow a winding road from Eastern religion breathing exercises practiced one thousand times a day in pursuit of nirvana, to a quiet Holy Hour where the Holy Spirit meets me in the stillness between my own breaths. Through Lisa Harper's Jesus Shaped Life and a tribe of lovely women diving into theology together, something clicked. God has never once moved away from us. The Comforter Jesus promised is not a distant presence waiting to be summoned. He is closer than your next breath, dwelling in you, abiding with you, from here to Kingdom come. And when we finally understand that we are temples of the living God, something shifts. We start to see the holiness in each other. And in doing so we draw a little bit of Heaven into this broken world. Just breathe. He is already there.

Life got loud. Work travel, mounting deadlines, old dogs held together by a small pharmacy worth of medication, and community commitments all arriving at once. And somewhere in the noise, without even noticing, I put up a veil between myself and God. Not because He stepped back. Because I stopped looking up. In this episode we sit with the moment the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom at Christ's death, and ask the question that changes everything: did that event bring God closer, or did it simply reveal that He was already there? He was with Adam and Eve. He came as Immanuel. He lives in us now. He has never once moved. The chaos of life does not push God away. It just convinces us to put back the veil He already tore down. If the world has been loud lately and God has felt distant, this one is for you. He is not far. He is right there. Trust Him. Be still.

Returning to Gomer

Why do we not walk around in shock that Jesus died for us? Like someone who walked out of the Holocaust unharmed, completely spared from something that should have destroyed them. In this episode we sit with that question and refuse to let it go unanswered. We stare directly into Revelation 20:15 and name what we were actually saved from. We draw a parallel between a soldier returning home to a treacherous wife and our own tendency to cozy up to the very enemy our Savior defeated. And then we meet Gomer. Hosea's wife. The woman who was loved beyond all reason and wandered back anyway. The warning is simple and sobering: if we do not keep one eye on what we escaped from, the way a driver checks the rear view mirror, we risk becoming her. Satan was defeated. He is roaming the earth picking through garbage. You are royalty. A joint heir with Christ. There is no reason to give the enemy so much as a moment of your time. I may have been a Gomer once. But through my free will, I choose to be the daughter of the King.

What if your Sunday was so restful it felt like a vacation, without the packing, the airport, or the credit card bill? In this episode we take a slow walk through what the Sabbath actually does to us when we honor it, not as a rigid rule but as the quiet, unhurried gift God designed it to be. We talk about what happens to the pace, to the people around us, and most surprisingly, to our eyes. Because somewhere between the church service, the home cooked meal, and the low profile Sunday, something shifts. The people you see every week suddenly look different. Kinder. More creative. Easier on the eyes. And then the real realization lands: if mere mortals made in God's image can be this spectacular, how much more is the source of all of it? We are surrounded by vibrant, living proof of how magnificent God is. We just need the Sabbath to finally slow down enough to see it.

It started with cookies. Specifically, with walking to the pantry for flour and coming back with a plan to make panang curry instead. If you have ever done something like this, welcome to the overstimulated brain club. In this episode we follow one woman's observation of her own neural pathways for an entire day and discover something quietly convicting: she never forgets her phone. Ever. Not once. But the first piece of jewelry her husband ever bought her? Gone. In this episode we ask what it means when the thing that never gets left behind is a screen full of work emails, and what it would look like to rewire those same neural pathways toward Jesus instead. Paul had the answer two thousand years before smartphones existed. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Where is your mind today?

August arrived with a full calendar, a tight schedule, and a sudden corporate level panic attack about resource allocation and ROI. As it turns out, the real resource problem was not August at all. It was Psalm 90:4-6, Moses, a thousand years passing like yesterday, and a sneaky attempt by Satan to make fleeting human life feel like evidence that God does not love us. Vile Satan. In this episode we power through the panic, correct a misreading of Scripture, visit Revelation 13 and the Book of Life established before the foundation of the world, and land right where Jesus said we would be, tucked safely under His wings like a hen gathering her chicks. Your name is in His Book. You are worth His blood to Him. He knows it even when you do not. And He knows best.

It started with a German Shepherd who would not give up her ball. Not for treats, not for commands, not for anything. She would snatch it from thin air with the dexterity of a gazelle and disappear under the bushes to guard her hoard like a tiny furry dragon. Sound familiar? In this episode we watch one dog's journey from hoarding to sharing, and realize somewhere along the way that we have been doing the exact same thing with God. Our plans, our comfort, our control, our treasures, all stashed under the bushes while the Good Shepherd keeps tossing balls and waiting patiently for us to figure it out. The move from self-sufficiency to trust is the whole journey. And the balls always come back. I shall not want.

What happens when you set out to rescue someone and end up needing rescuing yourself? In this episode we get honest about spiritual drift, the kind that does not announce itself but creeps in one sociable evening at a time, until you look up and realize you are no longer where you started. We talk about a banshee, a rough few months of cleaning up lies and false accusations, and the God who healed it all and called it Jehovah Rapha. We also spend time with Peter, who stepped out of the boat with his eyes on Jesus and started sinking the moment he looked away. The good news is the same for Peter as it is for us: the moment you cry out, the hand is already reaching. You are in the storm. You are also protected. Keep your eyes on Him.
